FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Police Department says a man is in custody and a suspect is at large following a shooting at the Glenbrook Square Mall Saturday afternoon.
Dispatch confirmed with WANE 15 that the FWPD is investigating a shooting that occurred just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Fort Wayne Police Department issued an Emergency Alert just after 3 p.m. stating that Glenbrook Mall located at 4201 Coldwater Road, is closed and asking those to avoid the area. Sergeant Juan Guitierrez, a public information officer with FWPD informed WANE 15 that the mall would be closed for the rest of the day.
According to Sergeant Guitierrez at the scene, the shooting occurred in the mall’s food court. Two individuals were taken to the hospital, but it is unclear at this time if they were injured as a result of the shooting.
At this time it is not believed that there is any immediate threat to the public.
Officers were still working to clear out the mall just before 4 p.m.
This is the third shooting to occur at the mall in the last year, with one on July 8 2023 and another on September 1 that same year.
A WANE 15 crew member is at the scene and will provide updates as they become available.
