The St. Louis Battlehawks have dealt with a couple of tough injuries over the last week, leading to more personnel changes. RB Kevon Latulas has re-signed with the team, to replace Mataeo Durant who was placed on the injured reserve list.

Kevon Latulas was an offseason signing for St. Louis. He’s a rather intriguing prospect out of Missouri State. The shifty, strong running back put his talents on display at Missouri State, especially during his final couple of seasons.
Latulas stands at 6 feet, 215 pounds. In his three years at Missouri State, he compiled 1,029 rushing yards alongside six touchdowns. He averaged an impressive 7.15 YPC in college. Additionally, Kevon made an impact on special teams, and through the air, with 458 receiving yards and 4 TD’s.

Now, Latulas will have an opportunity to prove himself as RB3, despite having been let go previously in Training Camp.
It’s really unfortunate to see Mataeo Durant get placed on the injured reserve. Durant was having an excellent season for the Battlehawks, and was positioning himself as RB1. After being inactive in week one, Durant broke out for over 100 yards in their win against Arlington – helping put the game away late.
Mataeo got injured early in week four against Memphis, and did not return. He’s likely done for the season, finishing with 134 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Callahan O’Reilly To IR
Callahan O’Reilly was having a solid rookie season with the St. Louis Battlehawks. He saw his first action in week two, filling in for an injured Mike Rose. Across the next two games, O’Reilly totaled 19 tackles – and led the team with 12 against San Antonio.
Callahan also was injured in their game against Memphis in week four, and now hits the IR list as well. It’s tough to see a young, promising prospect having their season cut short. According to PFF, O’Reilly was graded above average at 65.6.
Final Thoughts
The St. Louis Battlehawks are red hot, coming off of a 45-12 win over the DC Defenders. Even with some of the losses they’ve dealt with due to injury, this team is so complete from top to bottom, they find a way to get it done. General Manager Dave Boller continues to bring in top tier talent, and it’s why St. Louis is an elite spring football team.
Kevon Latulas is expected to remain RB3 for now. Jacob Saylors has been on a tear, and Wayne Gallman is showing signs of life as well. That said, Latulas could work his way into the rotation especially if more injuries occur.
