BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was taken to the hospital after a Saturday morning crash in Blendon Township.
Around 9:45 a.m., deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the intersection of Port Sheldon Street and 72nd Avenue for a crash.
Responding deputies learned that a 2019 van, driven by a 55-year-old Coopersville woman, was heading northbound on Port Sheldon Street and didn’t stop at the intersection of 72nd Avenue. The van crashed with a westbound Toyota, driven by a 60-year-old Hudsonville man, before ending up in a ditch.
The driver of the van was trapped and had to be rescued by a Beldon Township Fire and Rescue team, the sheriff’s office said. She was not hurt.
The passenger in the van, a 72-year-old Coopersville man, was taken to the hospital for treatment, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the Toyota was treated at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said the at-fault driver was cited for failure to yield.
